Robert Holland, 94, of Fountain Hills, Arizona passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. After several months of declining health, Bob died peacefully at his home.

You might remember Bob from his dedicated volunteer work in Ohio and Iowa. He was a lead volunteer for Topside Operations in the All-American Soap Box Derby in Akron until 1972, and he also served on their national Control and Rules Committee. After moving his family to Iowa, Bob served as Scoutmaster for Muscatine Boy Scout Troop 127 in the 70's and 80's, and led an excursion to Philmont Scout Ranch. Bob was a member of Faith United Church of Christ in Muscatine where he served in the vestry.

The youngest of three sons, Bob attended Peekskill military academy and later graduated from Yale University. He started his career in education and then joined the tire industry, working for BF Goodrich in Akron.

Bob relocated his family to Iowa in 1974 to join Bandag. He later started and operated Muscatine Transportation Inc. with wife Joan. Over the years, the service carried many travelers between Muscatine and the Quad Cities airport.

In the late 80's, Bob became a commercial real estate broker and worked from Cedar Rapids. He was a life member in CCIM where he served as president and earned the Jay W. Levine award for distinguished service. Bob served on many CCIM boards, where he was "respected by all, disliked by none." Bob served as adjunct instructor at the University of Iowa where he taught one class each year in commercial real estate.

Bob enjoyed tennis, bowling, dancing, golf, bridge and cribbage. He was a 32nd degree Freemason and member of Kiwanis. A devoted fan of Iowa Hawkeyes college football, he could be heard cheering the team at home games.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, and brothers John, Jr. and Harry. A caring and supportive father and grandfather, Bob is survived by his children and their spouses; Robert and Mercedes Holland, Sandy and Rick Hazen, and Chuck and Sharon Holland, and by grandchildren Richard Holland, Jackie Ajoux, Emily Enany, Ellen Eichelberger, Sam Eichelberger, Ben Holland, Anna Ruppert and Nick Holland; and six great grandchildren.

A memorial service for Bob will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Faith United Church of Christ in Muscatine, Iowa. Bob will be interred in Iowa. In lieu of flowers or gifts, he would encourage you to become a dedicated volunteer to whichever causes you support.
